Spring Fling Candlelight Hike

Are you ready for spring? Warmer weather, longer days, more sunshine…what’s not to like!? Join us for the last candlelight event of the year as we celebrate the return of spring. Follow the candles up to the top of Squirrel Hill and, with luck, there should be great stargazing! Warm up at the bonfires at the top and bottom of the hill. Stop by the Wolfs Den Shelter along the route for s’mores and hot chocolate. The lit route is about a mile long and features a long climb to the top of the hill. Access to Wolfs Den is shorter and flatter.

This event will be officially dedicated in memory of Wes Doak – MWP founder and close friend.

We will have a few areas along the candlelight route where people can light a candle in his memory. Wes was an adamant supporter of the candlelight events and could often be found manning one of the fire pits telling stories and sharing his love of science and astronomy.

Please join us in celebrating and remembering Wes at our last candlelight event of the year!

The MWP Ski Shop will be open during the event, and renting snowshoes. Be sure to stop by the Chalet to pick up a glow necklace before beginning your candle lit adventure!

Dog Policy

Dogs are welcome on the trail for this event, but must be on leash at all times. Dogs are not allowed in the Chalet. Thank you!

Event Summary

When: March 8 from 6 pm – 9 pm

Cost: $5 per ticket. Free to annual members.

Donations for drinks and marshmallows are always appreciated.
