Snowshoe Trails
Minocqua Winter Park offers 15 miles of beautiful snowshoe trails which wind through some of the most scenic areas of the park! These ungroomed trails are completely separate from the ski trails and provide a sense of peace and solitude. Pack a lunch and stop at the many picnic tables, benches, and trailside fire pits along the way.
Choose from seven trails ranging in distance from 1.25 to 5 miles. From towering stands of White Pines, to windswept Black Spruce bogs, to stunning hilltop vistas, there’s a trail here for everyone.
Trail Highlights
Trailside Shelters & Fire Pits
We love the cozy feeling of a winter campfire. Four trail-side shelters and fire pits are located around the park which offer a perfect spot for a break on your winter adventures. The Tea House is open on weekends and holidays, but all others are open every day. Sip hot cocoa, roast marshmallows, test your winter animal tracking skills, and watch the birds at the feeders. Each shelter has its own unique charm.
Popple Loop Storybook Activity
Follow the book pages around Popple Loop snowshoe trail to read a short story while also enjoying beautiful Northwoods scenery. This easy 1 mile loop is perfect for the whole family and features a bench and a picnic table for taking breaks along the way. Snowshoeing Frequently Asked Questions
Can I snowshoe or hike on the ski trails?
No. Walking or snowshoeing is not allowed on any part of the ski trails. These activities can damage the trails and leave deep footprints in the trail that are dangerous and uncomfortable to ski through and can be impossible for our grooming equipment to remove. Snowshoeing/walking is only allowed on our designated snowshoe trails which do cross ski trails occasionally…please stay on the snowshoe trails.
Are dogs allowed on the snowshoe trails?
Yes! Leashed dogs are welcome on all snowshoe trails. Please pick up after them and pack out any waste. Pet waste stations are located at the back of the main parking lot and at the small parking lot outside the main gate. Please note that dogs are not allowed in the Chalet.
Where do I purchase a season pass?
Season passes are called memberships and can be purchased in person at the Chalet during regular business hours or online here. Memberships are valid for one year from date of purchase and gives you access to the winter and summer trail systems as well as our brand new 18 hole Squirrel Hill Disc Golf Course (open during the summer months).
Can I snowshoe off-trail?
No. Most of the 6,500 acres of land that Winter Park is on is privately owned. We ask that snowshoers please stay on the marked trails.
