Stephanie Shaw provided an interesting and informative presentation on Wisconsin Fish to forty attendees in the Minocqua Winter Park Chalet. She explained the spawning sequences of various species after ice out and how water temps queue the lifecycles. The cycles of predator-prey relationships are affected, and we learned how “Fish are like Trees!” ( rings in scales and bones) ! While science and knowledge have advanced over the past 100 years, it was interesting to compare pictures from 1918 showing the same deployment of fyke netting to sample fish.

Stay tuned for a separate post of Stephanie Shaw’s informative slides that are sure to be interesting to fisherman and anyone interested in what is Beneath the Surface!
