Minocqua, WI – The Minocqua Winter Park Foundation hosted a “Patron Appreciation and
Park Vision” fundraiser Saturday, August 29 at Norwood Pines Supper Club. Over 100 guests
enjoyed an extensive buffet, silent auction and vision boards depicting the Foundation’s hopes
for the Park’s future.
That future looks particularly bright for the Foundation, which in the past year has
welcomed a new Executive Director, Mike Trantow, introduced new board members, and
expanded the Park’s offerings. Funds from the event will support operational costs and
additional staffing needs. A matching grant of up to $75,000 will double all donations until
the campaign ends September 30. The Foundation took time to thank the many donors who
got the Park to where it is today, including the evening’s sponsor, Redman Realty.
“We are definitely growing,” said Greg Popovich, treasurer of the Foundation. “There
is an increased demand for silent sports venues and pristine places like Minocqua Winter
Park. We know we have been given a true gem here, and it is our responsibility to preserve
and share it.”
In addition to winter activities such as Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, ski-joring and
tubing, Minocqua Winter Park is open in all seasons offering hiking, biking, and an 18-hole
disc golf course. A “Walk on the Wild Side” nature series brings hundreds of guests to the
Park each year to learn about local wildlife from area experts.
With over 100 kilometers of groomed trails and 6,500 acres, Minocqua Winter Park is
the largest conservation land trust in the state of Wisconsin. To make a donation or for more
