Citizen Science

We’re working to identify and survey the plants and animals that call Minocqua Winter Park home! We are proud to participate in the following programs:

Snapshot Wisconsin (DNR): Monitoring wildlife year-round using a state-wide network of trail cameras.

Bluebird Nest Box Survey: In conjunction with the Bluebird Restoration Association of Wisconsin, we have installed 8 nesting boxes and are surveying success of cavity nesting species including Bluebirds, Tree Swallows, and Wrens.

Midwest Annual Crane Count: Volunteers participate in a one day survey in early spring to count cranes heard and seen during a 2 hour period. Volunteers also tracks all bird species seen or heard as well. In coordination with the International Crane Foundation.

Bio Blitz (iNaturalist): There’s so much biodiversity here at the park! Let’s see what we can find! Use the iNaturalist app to record plants, insects, birds, etc.

Bird Survey Hotspot (eBird): Use the eBird app to record what birds you are seeing and hearing on your adventures. Minocqua Winter Park is listed as a hotspot in the app – let’s see how many species we can document!
