Minocqua Winter Park has two dedicated trails exclusively for snowshoers. Both of these trails have been extensively worked on this past off-season to create two very nice loops. Last year we had a total of about 3km of out n’ back trails. This year we will have one 7.0K loop and one 3.5K loop. First, there’s the ‘Snowstomper’ trail. This trail is a very beautiful, very undulating hike out past the beaver pond and out and around the Yukon Swamp. You’ll traverse an island out in the swamp and make your way back through a very rolling section of trail back to the Chalet. A second trail called ‘Breaking Free’, takes shoers out and parallel to the Squirrel River and then back in to pass the new Tea House and then back to the Chalet.
A full day snowshoe trail pass is $10 for adults and $7 for those under 18 and over 65. After 2pm, a half-day rate of $7 and $5 respectively is available. Snowshoes can be rented in the ski shop for $14 for a full day or $9 for a half day after 2pm.
